And we’re back! Summer is the ‘royal we’ I’m referring to. Damn that feels good. Corvus has been hibernating. Well, if you can spending as much time splitboarding in the backcountry with www.wreckboards.com and @splitsville , as well as having a side consulting project doing a massive rebrand of a beer company, hibernation, more like off season!
We’re free now! Free for summer. Free for the last of the spring slush. Free for the first of the summer waves!. Bring it all on!
Precipitation means snow on the mountains so that is what helps us get through the grey winters here in Vancouver. There’s been a drought of snow this season but it’s hard to complain when it’s warm and sunny. Tennis season started early!
Ten years ago Mt Pleasant had fewer restos, pubs and hot spots but was always a spectacular night out. We would invite all our circle of friends out for a night visiting all our favorite haunts: The Reef, Locus, Purple Crab (RIP), Army Navy (aka Legion), Public (RIP), Zigz (RIP, now Hyde), The Whip and sometimes the ANZA (technically off Main but legendary Mt Pleasant).
With Rememberance Day Nov 11th the last stop is always the Cenotaph for Memorial Services and the rest of the day to recover from the envitable hangover.
Join us EVERY NOVEMBER 10th as we’ll be on Main Street visiting all our favorite haunts!
Here’s a itinerary we found from 2005’s Fall Crawl!!!
Soon we’ll be snow sliding but in anticipation we did a hike to the top of Mt.Strachan (the mountain top of Sky Chair). This big old bird came to and gave us the once over. We got to practice our Raven calls and this guy would call back (well sometimes).
Big Old Raven came to check us out at the Top of Mt. Strachan
Whoa, a record string of weather has kept Corvus busy all season. Despite a short sideline due to ACL reconstruction we’ve been signing up new retailers ( Moule, Grassroots and Much and Little for instance) and doing pop-up shops (next one is August 24th Viva. Vancouver smack in the middle of downtown Robson and Granville!). Thanks to physio that includes cycling to the beach for water walking, the new knee is almost back kicking it. Just in time our favorite time of the season, late summer!
We’ve been working on this for awhile now and finally can offer special models of the Gill, Drift and Newmad with interchangeable lenses and the ability to get your own prescription lenses fitted!
You asked for interchangeable or Rx compatible frames and we got ’em. We have the Drift (Tan, Chocolate and Black), Gill (chocolate) and Newmad (chocolate) in our online shop soon (email us if you’re super keen to try them out).
Today we can send you a pair and you can get your preferred Optometrist to get lenses with your Rx and in the correct shape. You will love how light the bamboo frames are on your face but be certain to remind your lens fitter to be careful as the natural fibres are not as flexible as oil based plastics so it needs to be just right.
The cut is aligned with the grain and barely noticeable but when you unscrew it you can safely swap lenses, either the ones we include or your own Rx lenses
Maybe you’re just living in a climate (like Vancouver) that warrants some dark polarized lenses for our awesome summer (August) and then some lighter tints for the grey days of the rest of the year. We refer to our lighter lenses of the Auburnd Faded Gradient and the Auburn Polarized as ‘Vancouver Specials’. Ideal for any light condition and guaranteed to ameliorate your outlook on any day!
Here’s a look at the Gill from below where you can see the very small hole with the screw that enable you to swap out the lenses
The Drift and the Newmad have only one screw that holds both Lenses in place with the seam barely noticeable as it is in line with the grain of the bamboo
